OpenAI has officially released Chat GPT-5 — its most advanced language model yet. Starting today, it’s available to all ChatGPT users, including those on the free tier (with usage limits).
What’s new in Chat GPT-5
GPT-5 delivers noticeable improvements in accuracy, speed, and flexibility. OpenAI describes it as “a PhD-level expert in your pocket.”
Key upgrades include:
- Smarter reasoning – GPT-5 now “pauses” internally before replying, producing deeper and more relevant answers.
- Vibe coding – a new approach where you describe what you need in plain language, and the AI writes complete code.
- Multimodal conversations – work with text, voice, and images in a single chat.
More reliable, more personal
OpenAI says GPT-5 is far less likely to “hallucinate” — generating false facts — and provides more accurate guidance, especially in sensitive areas like health. Users can customize chat “personalities,” change interface colors, and integrate Gmail or Google Calendar for context-aware replies.
For business and developers
GPT-5 comes in several variants:
- GPT-5 – full power and capabilities.
- GPT-5 mini – balanced speed and cost.
- GPT-5 nano – lightweight and budget-friendly.
The model supports context windows of up to 400,000 tokens, handles large datasets, and will roll out to ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and Education versions starting August 14.
